We would first like to thank all of you for your great support of us while starting this website. Believe it or not, we couldn’t have done this without your kind words, participation in the forums, and of course, your purchases.

While we love offering all of you great games at great prices, we have yet to find a method to make it worth our time and effort. At first, we thought that we could eventually make it through the rough times and become profitable. But after months of hard work and devotion, things weren’t looking up, and up to this point we haven’t been very profitable. We tried raising prices, having a very low priced game of the day, free shipping, and a few other tactics. While some were definitely better than others, none of them were worth our time.

Don’t get us wrong, we made some money, and again, we appreciate your support. The problem was for ever hour we put in, we got less than $5 back. This just wasn’t working. Not to mention the extra costs of gasoline, and supplies (boxes, packaging, ect.).

At this time we would like to officially announce that we will be letting the Beta Board Game Project chill for the summer – as it is. You can still buy games at the prices that are listed right now, and we’ll ship your orders, we’re just going to take a break as far as aggressive experimentation goes. In the meantime we will be reviewing other possibilities so that we can continue offering you guys great prices and great customer service.

Speaking of customer service: We feel that we have resolved nearly all customer service inquiries. If you feel that you have yet to be responded to or have any further questions, please send an email to support@empireboardgames.com and we’ll get you taken care of.

We just thought we would make you all aware of a cute little back-stabbing trick that one of our partners in successs competitors tried to injur us with lately.

Of course we’re all familiar with the age-old sphiatt rumors and misconceptions, but apparently p o z y isn’t ready to let the dust settle, nor let the rumors dissipate. 

Over the last few days, Empire has been doing routine traffic checks to see where (precisely) recent web traffic has been coming from. We noticed p o z y was among the many websites directing traffic our way. Apparently they noticed this too, and in an effort to cripple our customer base, the clever goons used a profanity blocker to swap the words (phrase) “Empire Board Games” with “Hiatt & Hiatt Enterprises”. Correct us if we’re wrong, but that’s what it looks like to us. Please, somebody tell p o z y we are weeping. 

A couple of examples:

Who knows, maybe it was just some newly-knighted moderator on his high horse, abusing his newly aclaimed powers on the p o z y forums. We hope this is the case and that they will see their mistake and delete said profanity blocker rule. If this is not changed within the week, Empire will consider it a direct act of war and will be forced to adjust it’s prices accordingly! Oh, wait, they can’t get any lower.  

EDIT: “Oh wait. They can’t get any lower unless we…s-s-s-start giving games away free. hmmmmm.”

We at Empire couldn’t recommend Google’s New Browser any more highly, but what the heck? Apparently Chrome has a bit of an issue with our search box – making it about twice as fat. No worries though, it makes browsing our site even faster! We’ll work on a fix for the fat search window in the meantime.

If you’re like most casual internet users, you’re probably not quite sure what RSS Feeds are or how to use them. I’ll post a basic tutorial / Overview on how to use our feeds in a later post so you can take advantage of the features. After all, sometimes you have to pull the trigger quick to get in on some of our amazing board game deals.

Update: The “New Products” RSS Feed isn’t working at the moment. All others are though. I’ll let you know when it’s doing what we want it to.
